Hello, my name is Imogen Dennis-Newton. I am a mum, I live in North Wales and I originally trained as a classical and jazz pianist – plus I play the church organ, flute and clarinet.
Since I was very young I have had a passion for music. However, I became caught up in the executive world and my dream of becoming a professional musician was overtaken by my writing career.
Having enjoyed many years of working in the marketing, advertising and leisure industry as a commercial writer, I decided to turn my love of music – and words – into a business following the birth of my daughter. Minims and Melodies was born! Plus, I am working towards becoming a professional music teacher. This means each class is structured from both an educational and a parental perspective.
My daughter and I have attended many local playgroups and organised groups. Whilst there are some fantastic groups around, there was a huge gap in the baby and toddler ‘learning market’ for a music group that actually teaches the fundamental basics of music theory to young children.
Not all children have musical parents so many miss out on this important early learning opportunity. I felt that combining my music training and business knowledge seemed an obvious and natural path to follow.
I have researched extensively pre-school educational and learning activities, as well as music education for young children, to bring you fun, interactive, informative and educational weekly music groups for babies and toddlers.
